Connecting Your Charles Schwab Account

To enable automated trading on our platform, you will need to create your own individual Charles Schwab developer account. This personal architecture gives you direct control over your API access, maximizes your trading execution speed by maintaining your own rate limits, and ensures your credentials remain secure.

Follow the steps below to generate your unique App Key (Client ID) and Secret.

  1. Step 1: Create a Schwab Developer Account

Navigate to the Charles Schwab Developer Portal. Click on Register to create a developer account if you don’t already have one, or Log In if you do. Note: This may require your standard Schwab brokerage login credentials.

  2. Step 2: Create a New App

Once logged into the developer dashboard, navigate to the Apps section and click the button to Create App.

  3. Step 3: Configure App Details

Fill out the application details as follows:

    • App Name: Choose a name you will recognize (e.g., MyAutomatedTradingApp).
    • App Description: Enter a brief description.
    • API Products: Select the Trader API – Individual (or Retail) option to enable trading functionality.
    • Callback URL: Enter the exact callback URL provided by our platform:
  4. Step 4: Wait for App Approval

After submitting the application, Schwab may take a short period to provision the app. Wait until the app status shows as “Ready for Use” or “Approved” in your dashboard before proceeding.

  5. Step 5: Copy Your Credentials

Click on your newly created app to view its details. You will need to locate two specific pieces of information:

    • App Key (This is your Client ID)
    • Secret

Security Warning: Treat your Secret Key like a password. Never share it outside of our secure platform integration settings.

  6. Step 6: Connect to Our Platform

Return to your account settings on our platform. Paste your App Key and Secret into the respective Schwab integration fields and click Connect. You will be briefly redirected to Schwab to authorize the connection and finalize the setup.

If your autotrading does not execute, you may need to log in to Think or Swim to enable it. You can use their app or login to their web portal.
